Biography

Ronald H. Jones, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully in his own home the morning of March 14, 2023. Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., January 30, 1939, to Sydney and Marion Jones, Ron graduated from A.B. Davis High School, settled in Newtown, Connecticut, in 1971, and later moved to Sandy Hook in 1991.

He loved driving around town in his pickup truck, trips to the dump, cruise nights, tag sales, flea markets, checking his PO Box at the Botsford Post Office, and the ice cream shop. Outside of a successful career as a manufacturing engineer for 28 years with Pitney Bowes, Ron’s drive came from his two biggest hobbies: restoring vintage Corvettes and collecting United States military firearms. As an accomplished mechanic, if he wasn’t in his pickup truck, Ron could be seen driving around town in either his 1962 or 1954 Corvette. Ron was adorned with marksmanship awards since he was a boy; his knowledge of Corvettes was only surpassed by his expertise in United States military firearms. He was a long-time active member of the National Corvette Restorers Society and The Westchester Arms Military Collectors Club. In addition, he was a founding member of the Housatonic Valley Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America. He was incredibly proficient at designing, building, and fixing absolutely anything, and was always available for help with a home improvement, automobile, or school project.

He is predeceased by his brother, Sydney, and his three cherished sons, Ronald Jr, David, and Steven.
